    No. ECI/PN/43/2019 Dated: 29th March, 2019 PRESS NOTE ECI collaborates with Indian Railways for Voter Awareness Campaign; Four long distance Trains to carry voter awareness messages As part of Voter Awareness campaign for Lok Sabha Election 2019, Election Commission of India and Indian Railways have come together to utilize four long distance Trains to carry voter awareness and motivational messages. The Train displays important contact for the citizens including the Voter Helpline number and the National Voters’ Services Portal besides motivational messages urging them to Vote. Indian Railways has one of the largest railway networks in the world. As per the report submitted by the Ministry of Railways, on an average, Indian Railways carries 22.24 million passengers and 3.04 million tonnes of freight each day. This widespread network ensures that communication on this platform has a wide reach in urban as well as rural segments. The trains have been selected on the longest North-South route and East-West route and covers 19 States in all. Kerala Express is a daily train covering 3035 Kms in 8 States in 51 hours 10 minutes and has 41 stops. There are 20 stops with the stoppage of 5 minutes or more, details enclosed. Capitals covered by Kerala Express are Bhopal, Thiruvananthapuram. Himsagar Express is a weekly train covering 3714 Kms in 12 States in 71 hours with 69 stops. There are 29 stops with the stoppage of 5 minutes or more including the last stop. State capitals are Thiruvananthapuram, Bhopal, Nizamuddin/New Delhi and Jammu Tawi. Howrah Express is a daily train covering 2087 kms in 6 states in 37 hours 35 minutes with 63 stops. There are 19 stops with the stoppage of 5 minutes or more. Capitals covered are Ahmedabad, Raipur, Howrah. Guwahati Express is a weekly train covering 3237 kms in 7 states in 67 hours 40 min with 41 stops. There are 23 stops with the stoppage of 5 minutes or more. Capitals covered are Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Patna and Guwahati. On 29th March, 2019, Mr Ranbir Singh, CEO Delhi , Ms Padma Angmo, Director, Election Commission of India and Mr R N Singh, DRM, Delhi flagged off Kerala Express at New Delhi Railway Station. Kerala express will be flagged off by State Chief Electoral Officers and District Election Officers at the State and District HQs as it traverses across the country. Similarly other three trains shall also be flagged off during their maiden journey in coming weeks. As the trains travel across the country, citizens will be encouraged to click a photograph with the train and upload it on social media, for further spreading the message.

    No. ECI/PN/29/2019 Dated: 15th March , 2019 PRESS NOTE Subject : Registration of political parties under Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 – Public Notice Period – regarding. Registration of Political parties is governed by the provisions of Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. A party seeking registration under the said Section with the Commission has to submit an application to the Commission within a period of 30 days following the date of its formation as per guidelines prescribed by the Election Commission of India in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 324 of the Commission of India and Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. As per existing guidelines, the applicant association is inter-alia asked to publish proposed Name of the party in two national daily news papers and two local daily newspapers, on two days in same news papers, for inviting objections, if any, with regard to the proposed registration of the party before the Commission within a 30 days from such publication. 3. The commission has announced the elections for the Lok Sabha and Assemblies to Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Arunachal Pradesh on 10th March, 2019. Therefore, in view of the current elections, the Commission has given one time relaxation and has reduced the notice period from 30 days to 7 days for the parties who have published their public notice by 10th March, 2019 i.e. date of announcement of election. 4. Now, therefore, if any body has any objection with regard to the registration of any political party who have published their public notice by 10th march, 2019 may file their objection against that party by 17th March, 2019.
